A Thesis skin that would really be popular is a Portfolio-style skin that lets folks showcase their work. Most Thesis skins focus heavily on blogging.

I’ve heard some buzz about skins for video. Maybe a video type skin in your new look and feel would be popular. I think with the last two skins and with the look of the Thesis Themes.com skin makeover, you’re on the right track, both in looks and functionality.

You guys are doing a great job.

I should add, btw, that I realize there ARE portfolio-style skins out there, but they’re still pretty boxy and bland compared to the WP premium themes floating around out there. Trying to convince a client to use the pricier Thesis (with add’l customization costs) when he sees a gaggle of inexpensive, sleek portfolio themes out there can be a losing battle (since by definition he’s into the aesthetics in the first place). Just my $.02. I love Thesis and would only work with it if I could.

I think to answer this question, sometimes we should step back and ask: “how can we make our skin more user-friendly and faster to master?”

The question may drive to a conclusion that creating videos to teach about how to change its setting to suit different needs. Videos not just good for marketing, but also good for education. How do you think, Mark?

Yes more documentation around some skins would be a good idea, one issue we have is video’s can go out of date quickly with new versions of WordPress, Thesis and our skins coming out all the time!

Video blogger and Thesis user Gideon Shalwick said on a call last week that he wasn’t aware of a Video Blogging skin for Thesis, so this could be an opportunity????
http://rapidvideoblogging.com/

On support, what would be great would be:
Put the search box in the forum up in the top rhs so its easy to see and use,
Put the topics into categories. Now there are 9 pages – and growing – it keeps getting harder to find stuff that could be useful.
Have a “Common Customizations” section which has the common customization code snippets. This would save searching through the posts or having to start a new topic.
Have a “Tricks & Tips” section where useful tools, tricks and tips can be posted.

Thanks John, that’s awesome feedback! We’ll certainly be looking at implementing some of these suggestions.

Mark,

I am a member of the Rapid Video Blogging program and would be happy to pass along a recommendation to that community…if I can get one of your skins to work out for me.

To that end, I am planning on purchasing Thesis Play but need a 3 column layout. I cannot locate specific info stating that the skin has the necessary flexibility for that layout. Does it?

Thanks for your help.

Mark Hodder August 21, 2010 at 11:58 am

Yes Thesis Play supports any layout supported by Thesis.

I really like your themes and am looking forward to your new skins coming out. I currently have thesisfolio and thesis play and love them both.

A cool skin I would like to see is a squeeze skin. Something with more lead generation options.

Keep up the good work!

Here’s what I want in a skin. I want a special skin that has a landing page format…one that strips off all the normal formatting of my thesis theme (and whatever other skin of yours that I’m using).

And this skin is implemented on individiual pages by using the CSS Class (a Thesis feature) on the page.

Here is an example of what I mean…this page has salesletter in the CSS Class field.
http://naturalgingivitisremedy.com/how-to-stop-bleeding-gums-get-rid-of-gingivitis-fast1/

But the tabbed menus are still appearing and I don’t even want those…I want it to be a
real squeeze page.

And ideally! This landing page skin would have three or four variations of landing page formats that could be implemented on different pages.

I have to give credit to this person for the idea
http://www.howtomakemyblog.com/thesis/how-to-create-a-sales-letter-landing-page-with-wordpress-thesis-theme/

The CSS provided on that pages works great with Thesis theme but I couldn’t get it to work if I have one of your other skins installed. I’m sure its possible but over my head.

A lot of people asked for squeeze / landing page support – Easy Thesis now has that feature included in the options panel. Check out this page for some examples: http://thesisthemes.com/docs/easy-thesis/

Hello Mark I simply love thesis it has made my job alot easier as a webmaster. I was thinking of trying to retrofit the Image Exhibit Skin to display video’s instead ? What are your thoughts on this?

You can change the column widths to what ever you want in the Thesis options, one of the benefits of Thesis!
